This wonderfully medicinal infusion is made with calendula, lavender, peppermint, yarrow and Chamomile which will infuse for about 4 weeks to get all of the amazing healing properties infused into the oil. I’m drying out some rosemary and Biden’s pilosa which I will add in the next day or so. Calendula is great for the skin with antiseptic properties to help heal wounds, UV protectant and prevents signs of aging. Yarrow, Also known as the all heal plant or life medicine, is often used as an astringent and heals sores. Lavender is a good soothing herb for the skin as well as an antibacterial herb. Peppermint is calming, softening, toning and a great antiseptic for the skin. Chamomile is a soothing antioxidant herb which will calm red, dry and irritated skin. I may have gone a little overboard with all of the herbs I used, but it felt right and they are all so healing for the skin. What is your favorite skin care routine???? to make, fill a jar with your favorite herbs, fill with oil (I used avocado oil). Sit your oil in the sun everyday for 4 weeks for a wonderful solar infused oil. Strain then its ready to use to make your favorite healing salves. I made this wonderful muscle salve for my hardworking husband. I made this using Young Living Essential Oils of peppermint, camphor, wintergreen, thieves, blue tansy, organic coconut oil, bees wax and olive oil. Next time Id like to add some cayenne for a little extra heat, but overall this turned out to be a nice blend. (the herbs you see in the photo are peppermint and calendula.

They aren't top of the line tools but they always do me right and get the job done After the hurricanes of 2017, Robert and I were hiking out at one of the local preserves here in Jacksonville. We came upon a few marine grade decks that had washed up onto the preserve. The wood was still in great shape, so we contacted the Preserve and asked if we could come and clean up all of the wood and debris. Robert had to jump through quite a few hoops but was allowed to come out and clean up the mess. So we ended up with so much beautiful wood. It sat in our yard for about a year until recently, Robert was able to take some time and build this beautiful porch. It is our new favorite spot and added so much charm to our little 1940s Ranch Style Home. He did an amazing job, as he always does and Im so proud to call it home. Eventually it will host a peaked pergola, but for now, we will enjoy it as is. Now to clean the indoor clutter. That will be a whole nother blog post. to view more of my husbands work, go to www.robertnoelkecustoms.com rug I turned into a hanging rug from www.tuesdaymorning.com/ blue planter from www.rosesdiscountstores.com/
We've had Rambling Rose, our 1965 26ft Airstream International Land Yacht for about 6 or 7 years. We have had so much family fun in her and have decided she wants more out of her life. We will still enjoy family time with her but she will also be A Rambling Boutique. She will offer my handmade jewelry, Roberts hand forged implements, upcycled treasures and vintage finds.
look for her fall of 2019 or spring 2020 (maybe even sooner) much love, Shannon ![]() s If theres a such thing as a plant totem/plant spirit guide, motherwort is definitely mine. I adore her and all that she offers. Having suffered with anxiety and mild depression my entire life, I am definitely drawn to nervine plant medicine, with this beauty at the top of the list. Motherwort is a member of the mint family, she's a bitter mint, slightly acrid and astringent. She is a wonderful herb of the heart as she slows heart palpitations and rapid heart rate. She improves fertility and reduces anxiety associated with childbirth, post pardon, depression and menopause. She spreads joy and calmness, and is like a big hug from mom. Motherwort brings down high bp. Her energy is diffusive, moving trapped energy in our core systems that create blockages. Motherwort will lessen cramping during the childbirth process as well as during menstrual cycle. In Ayurveda, motherwort pacifies vatta, pitta and kapha, so its good for all constitutions. She stimulates digestion, liver and pancreas. She's a nervine, sedative, she is calming and gentle. She's an emmenagogue which means she's used to promote menstrual blood. She's cardiovascular as well as a diaphoretic (increases sweat) Contraindications~ not to be used with hypothyroidism. Also not to be used during pregnancy until the last 4 weeks. I created this Mothers Hug Tincture using plants I harvested from my garden. This is a wonderful blend of motherwort, mimosa albizia (the tree of happiness), passionflower, (another wonderful nervine), and reishi mushrooms (wonderful immune booster) harvested from the forests of florida. To purchase yours, go to my shop page http://www.shannonnoelkemetalarts.com/shop.html#!/Mothers-Hug-Herbal-Tincture/p/125562795/category=0 I am not a doctor nor an expert. Just sharing my love of natural plant medicine as Im learning. Always consult your local certified herbalist or physician with any questions. this is not meant to cure or diagnose. Living in a day where more and more people are addicted to pharmaceuticals, there is also such a strong movement of people moving towards natural healing and away from allopathic medicine. My recent love of herbal healing and essential oils has led me creating these OOAK handmade essential oil and tincture bottles. Handcrafted with Sterling Silver and natural stones, perfect to take your remedies on the go and keep them close to your heart.
